岐阜高専　グローバルプロジェクト

令和２年８月１７日（月）～８月２１日（金）にグローバルコミュニケーション能力育成プログラムをオンラインで開催しました。

１年生～４年生３２名の学生が参加し、英語コミュニケーションスキルの習得、My Idenity, ポジティブシンキングなど様々なトピックについてのグループディスカッションに取り組みました。初日は緊張や恥ずかしさから発言することが難しいと感じる学生も見受けれましたが、プログラムが進むにつれ多くの笑顔が見られ失敗や緊張もポジティブに捉えて、日に日に積極的に発言する学生の様子が印象的でした。最終日には、科学技術と知識がわたしの未来にどう活かせるかというタイトルで参加学生全員がジェスチャーを交え英語でスピーチをしました。

今回のプログラムでは新型コロナウィルスが私たちの生活にもたらした変化についてディスカッションする機会もありました。身近なトピックについて学生自身が考え、様々な角度から英語で意見を共有できる貴重な経験もできました。参加学生から、非常に刺激になった、ものごとをポジティブに捉えるマインドが持てるようになった、などの感想が寄せられました。

National Institute of Technology, Gifu College (Gifu KOSEN), has held the Empowerment Program during the school summer vacation from Monday, August 17 to Friday, August 21, 2020.

The program was held online, but student participation for this program is very encouraging. A total of 32 students from 1st to 4th grade have participated in this program. The program promotes group discussion in full English language between the students and foreign facilitators. The discussion topics consist of learning English communication skills, My Identity, and Positive thinking.

On the first day, some students found it difficult to speak due to nervousness and shyness as English is not commonly used in daily life. However, as the program progressed, the student builds up their courage in English communication. The communication mistakes and nervousness were positively recognized, and the student starts to speak in discussion day by day proactively. Everyone enjoyed the discussion, and a smiley face could be seen for the student. Overall, the appearance of the students in this program was impressive. On the final day of the program, all the participating students able to make speeches in English confidently with gestures on how science and technology could be used in their future.

Furthermore, the student also had the opportunity to discuss the changes that the new coronavirus has brought to our lives. It was also a valuable experience for students to think about recent trending topics and share their opinions from various angles in English. Participating students commented that they feel inspired and able to have a positive mindset for engaging in English communication.
