Educational Program of General and Combined Engineering

 

1.     Introduction

@@Gifu national College of Technology is carrying out an educational program of General and Combined Engineering for students to acquire sound backgrounds for engineers working internationally.  The program is held during the fourth and fifth years of the five-year course plus two years of advanced education, and aims at authorization by Japanese Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (JABEE).  After the authorization by JABEE, graduates of this educational program will be exempted from the first stage test of professional engineers and qualified as a preparatory professional engineer.

 

2.     Concept of this educational program

@@It is imperative to deeply consider the method of preventing depleted resource materials associated with industrial production and the diffusion of various materials affecting the ecological system for the sustainable development of human beings on this earth.  Therefore, in gthe manufacturing engineer societyh the provision of artificial environments enable efficient human labor and intelligent activities with high amenity, the conservation of global environment and the construction of recurring society must be contemplated.

@@The educational program of General and Combined Engineering is aimed at fostering studentsf abilities as follows: comprehensive capability of designing environmental systems which are composed of various socially required functions; and realized by substances such as machines, electrical and electronic equipments, buildings and social infrastructures, as well as space: such as life, city and nature, energy, knowledge and information and their control and management.

 

3.     Engineer trained by this educational program

@@Engineer trained by this educational program will have onefs own specialized engineering field along with a solid understanding of mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, information science, architecture and civil engineering.  One also should be able to develop the combined systems of above-mentioned backgrounds.  One should be able to display a leadership in an international field by utilizing information technology and English.

 

4.     Learning and educational objectives of this program

@@Graduates of this program have to achieve following learning and educational objective.  Concrete performance criteria are shown in syllabus.

(A)   Ethics

  Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities.

(B)   Design

Demonstrate abilities to design a product or process to satisfy social requests or needs.

(C)   Communication

Acquire abilities to communicate effectively in oral and written forms in Japanese and in English.

(D)   Expertise

Demonstrate solid understanding of mechanical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, information science, architecture or civil engineering, and comprehensive capability of designing environmental systems.  

(E)    Information Technology

Show abilities to use information devices and to make programming in onefs own specialized engineering field.
